Yanitza is an Arizona native and grew up in Tucson where her passion for community health started. Since 2014 she has helped to establish the recognition of the Arizona CHW workforce at the local, state and national level. She continues to provide guidance for policies and procedures to strengthen the professional identity of CHWs. Yanitza is passionate about continuing to build awareness in the areas of core competencies, workforce development and sustainability for Arizona CHWs. Yanitza started her Public Health career as a Community Health Worker understanding firsthand the needs and responsibilities of the workforce.
